Grantha letters are used to write words/names that derived from other languages such as Sanskrit or Portuguese.
These are the most commonly used grantha letters in Tamil:
ஜ் ஸ் ஷ் ஹ் ஶ்ரீ
ஜ் ஸ் ஷ் ஹ் can be combined with Tamil vowels to make compound letters.
ஶ்ரீ is a combination of ஶ் + ர் + ஈ and is not modified by combining it with vowels. ஶ்ரீ means holy or sacred and often used in religious context. For example in the name of a temple:
ஶ்ரீ மகா கணபதி கோவில் (Shri Maha Ganapathy Temple)
