Question Words I

Question words (வினாச்சொற்கள்) are easy to spot in a Tamil question (கேள்வி or வினா). Generally, question words start with எ ஏ or யா. Here are the essential question words used in Tamil.

Most question words remain the same in written and spoken (Jaffna) Tamil. எங்கே is shortened to எங்கெ in spoken Tamil. The change in யார் and எப்பொழுது however is more prominent.
